SKR SIGNS - TEMPLE OF DOOM   The kingdom of death/doom is a relatively closed circle, and Temple of Void is on a clear ascendency to seize the throne. Their debut album, "Of Terror and the Supernatural" has been obliterating the underground since it quickly sold out its first pressing, pressed by the band themselves. Joining forces with Shadow Kingdom Records to re-release their album to wider audience in May, Temple of Void is poised to reign death and dooms the world over. Drawing comparisons to titans of death and doom metal like Asphyx, Autopsy, and Hooded Menace, Temple of Void is carving their niche among an elite company of bands. The riffs are bulldozer-like, the vocals are monstrous, and the album was mastered by Tony Hamera from the legendary cult Detroit death metal act, Fatal. The production is often cited as another key element to the sheer power of the debut. But the most heralded aspect of Temple of Void's first album is the quintet's song-writing mastery. Majesty In Ruin is a side project of John Gaffney (SINISTER REALM, songwriter), and Rich McCoy (who's quietly been in the music scene for approximately 30 years). The two paired up to join up and present their best songwriting skills. Together they've achieved nothing short of an underground classic Epic Doom Metal EP. All 3 songs kill it in terms of songwriting, vocals, atmosphere, and more! We should make an extra note that the vocals really stand out here. They're crystal clear, filled with an abundance of emotion; they're definitely the main highlight of the album. This will hit the spot for fans that like bands similar to SOLITUDE AETURNUS, DIO, CANDLEMASS! A cassette tape and t-shirt of the album cover will shortly follow. Stay tuned. OROGEN is a relatively new band created from new musicians who love Classic Heavy Metal and Doom Metal, so there's no surprise where the music sits here. What's really cool about the music is the vocals at times sound like Mark Shelton from the Crystal Logic album, an album that really was ground breaking in the way it was created and executed. It's really cool to hear a lot of great sounds from the past all spiraled into this EP, while bringing their own twist as to what they want to hear in Heavy Metal. So we've mentioned Crystal Logic as a starting point. Take that, then layer on some old TROUBLE and CANDLEMASS and that will get you somewhere close, but their take is kind of interesting and I would not recommend this for anyone other than true DIE HARD DOOM METAL fans. When you talk about the earliest Death Metal bands, we think of SEPULTURA, DEATH, POSSESSED (all stemming from VENOM) right off the top, but there were a few ripping bands that quickly fell into obscurity and TERMINAL DEATH is one of those bands. This is not just an obscure band; they could have been a HUGE Death Metal band if they were signed to the right label back then. They certainly had all of the talent the aforementioned bands did. Their 1985 Demo tape screams with energy and intensity! This is a re-mastered collection of their complete and very short-lived career. The CD booklet is massive with a very in-depth and lengthy interview done by Laurent from Snakepit Magazine. There aren't that many Death Metal bands can come close to how amazing these songs were. This collection is another snapshot of that amazing early Slayer-esque Death Metal. Co-founder Shaun Glass, whom also co-found SINDROME later joined the more well known classic Death Metal band BROKEN HOPE in the early 1990s.
