Deprive - Into Oblivion (Memento Mori Label)

Deprive from Spain plays old school death metal with a strong sense of emotional expression. Very rarely do you come across such bands playing powerful, crushing death metal that doesn't completely give in to the saccharine melodies, but remaining dignified, stoic almost, and still letting the necessary emotions conveyed. Formed by the veteran of the Spanish scene, Erun Dagoth, who is a member of half a dozen bands, the music is mature, introspective and satisfying. It is nostalgic of the time when bands like PARADISE LOST, AMORPHIS, MY DYING BRIDE, CEMETERY, DESULTORY, HYPOCRISY and DARKTHRONE (first album) released their masterpieces and Deprive, a new band, manages to perfectly capture the vibe and yet keep it somewhat fresh, relevant and stemming from the heart more than any other source. The production is warm, dank and organic, a palpable human sound meant for strong yet feeling death metal fans.

HORRIFIED (UK) - Descent Into Putridity (2014) [news]

Label Memento Mori offers yet another sublime festering death metal band, this time from the catacombs of United Kingdom. Horrified has everything you wish your death metal possesses - slithering rot-infested tunes, coffin-breaking percussion and soul-vomiting vocals. This is old school death metal of the highest order, reminiscent of classic bands such as Death, Morgoth, Pestilence, Carcass, Asphyx, Autopsy, Gorguts, Cancer and Demolition Hammer. This band is triumphant in its expression, its glorification of eternal sickly tunes freshly unearthed from the wormy graves of the greats. Horrified is a band to watch out for. 'Descent Into Putridity' is only the band's debut full length, mastered at the famed Moontower Studios (Spain) by Javier Felez with the artwork provided by Vincent Helmkamp (Necromaniac zine) to capture the raw, dripping appeal of this fresh band.

Morbidity - Revealed from Ashes (2014) [news]

Du Bangladesh arrive Morbidity avec sa propre vision de la musique "old school". Enraciné dans le style des années 80 et au début des années 90 , ce groupe fusionne des éléments de Death Metal et Thrash Metal. Ce n'est pas sans rappeler des groupes comme les premiers Death, Massacre, Merciless, Grave.

Morbo is a band with members of Undead Creep, Haemophagus, Corpsefucking Art and others. One thing is clear - the intention is to play sick Death Metal. Morbo, which has been around since half a decade, finally releases a full length album that is worth the wait. It's creepy, festering Death Metal owing its sound to the horror-themed and otherwise Death Metal greats such as Autopsy, Necrophagia, Possessed, Master, early Death, Rigor Mortis, Nihilist/Entombed, Repulsion, Sadistic Intent and Massacre. You get the idea. From the artwork done by Adam Geyer to the production, you know what to expect. Death Metal with all its essence and charm intact.

Funest - Desecrating Obscurity (Memento Mori) [news]

Funest reeks of everything that is sacred about the style of Death Metal. It's cavernous, rumbling through the catacombs of long-forgotten gods, paying homage to revive their spirits in the band's own era. This is reminiscent of Carnage, Nihilist, Autopsy, Massacre, Dismember and God Macabre, a potent concoction of the deadliest music. Artwork is done by Cesar Valladares and guest vocals by Johan Jansson (Interment, Regurgitate, Uncanny) on two songs.
