Catubodua - Catubodua (Ep, 2018)

Catubodua - Catubodua (Ep, 2018)

self-released

Pagan Black Metal

Musicalement l'Ep présente trois titres : Catubodua, Mort Blanche, Sagesse Ancestrale.

score 10/10

[news] Frigoris - Nur ein Moment... (2106) (out now)

Frigoris - Nur ein Moment... (2106)

Hypnotic Dirge Records

Frigoris is a post black metal band rooted in the heart of the ruhr-area, Germany. The combination between Black Metal riffing and craftsmanship as well as a postmodern approach towards atmosphere and lyrics form a synthesis that results in long, atmospheric but melodious songs. The isolation and depression in modern society, the beauty of nature and a last pure shimmer of hope left are all tropes you can feel and read in the tracks. The trampled and narrow paths of Black Metal are left to find a new identity at the end of Parnassus.

The third album “Nur ein Moment…” (Just one moment…) is the current peak of this development. A combination of the typical Frigoris sound, established in the highly praised predecessor “Wind”, with extensive elements of Post Rock and Doom form six epic and atmospheric pieces that are supported by the lyrical concept leading us on the tracks of a protagonist who faces the consequences of suicide in an interior journey. The more than 52 minutes work was given the perfect mixture between modern and natural sound by Daniel Heyn (live mixer of Primordial, Secrets of the Moon, Ruins of Beverast, etc.) who caught the atmosphere of the album at the perfect spot.

[news] SAXORIOR – Saksen CD (2015)

SAXORIOR – Saksen CD

Epic Pagan Black Metal

On September 18th 2015 long-running German Epic Pagan Metal band SAXORIOR will release their sixth album „Saksen“, which narrates the migration of the ancient pagan Saxons from the outset of the first documented mention until the christianization. Lyrics deal with glory and suffering, Hengist and Horsa, the blood bath of Verden to the last grand uprising against the christian yoke. The ancient diction, epic songs and the treatment of historic themes make this masterpiece come across very authentic.

[news] FIRTAN - Niedergang (2014)

FIRTAN - Niedergang (2014) -

einheit-produktionen

On vous avez déjà parlé de Firtan ici : http://metallifer.blogspot.fr/2014/06/firtan-niedergang-2014-news.html

voci la suite :

Since 2010 Firtan from Southern Germany has been combining influences from a variety of musical genres into a raw, driving and yet cinematic sound that provides thesoundtrack to existential themes concerning man, nature, loss and death.

After releasing their first EP "Wogen der Trauer" in early 2013 the melodic tone of themusic changed to become increasingly dark and complex.

At the same time Firtan continued to formulate their sonic vision with their concept album "Niedergang". Elements from Black and Pagan Metal to Progressive- and Post-Rock alongside orchestral sounds create a captivating atmosphere which is supported by intensive and emotional vocal performances.

Poems by old German philosophers like Hegel or Vischer that are woven into the album concept and paintings of artist Larissa Kraus shape the lyrical and visual aesthetic of the band.

With intense performances and the new material Firtan appeared at many german festivals in 2014, including Ragnarök Festival, sharing the stage with bands like Finntroll, Satyricon or Endstille.

A few press commentaries:

Blast: "Between desperate, lamenting Black Metal parts, elements from the fields of Pagan, Progressive Metal and even Post Rock shine through, which underline the class of the top-notch compositions adding even more depth…" (Marlis Wimmerer)

Powermetal.de: "One of the most important newcomers of the year!" (Hang Mai Le 9/10 points)

Legacy: "A manifesto!" (FS Hain 13/15 points)

Undergrounded.de: "Up to now THE surprise of the year for me! " (Asgrimur 9/10 points)

[news] New album "Nikoli" of ZAKLON (2014 Possession Productions)

New album "Nikoli" of ZAKLON was released on CD 31.10.2014!

"Nikoli" ("Never") - is the fourth full format album of the Pagan Black Metal recluse from Minsk, Belarus. Melancholic, beautiful, dump and genuine. Six long tracks, diverse and very moody, will take you through September, October and November straight into the freezing claws of winter.

Produced in a limited edition of 1,000 copies, this album was released simultaneously in Europe by Possession Productions and in the USA by Embassy Row Music, in just 500 copies for each continent.

The CD is published with 16-page high quality booklet with original lyrics in dead Belorussian language and impressions of the Fall. By all means a unique item and an excellent gift.

Here you can read about ZAKLON's history in details.

ZAKLON biography:

Project ZAKLON emerged in October of 1999. In year 2000 the band recorded a cassette demo “Mech Starazhytnaha Lesu” (The Sword of the Ancient Forest). Unfortunately that recording was permanently lost. Four years later the band released its first demo album “Halodny Pozirk Mauklivaha Nieba” (Cold Glance of the Silent Sky).

ZAKLON is a one-man project by the musician from Minsk, Belarus known as Temnarod. At its early stage its art was influenced by the old Black Metal records of Darkthrone, Burzum, Carpathian Forest. At this moment, according to Temnarod, he draws an inspiration primarily from the nature of his country, and its mystery of death.
Apart from ZAKLON, Temnarod participates in two other projects – Pogost and Hreswelgr.

After completing first several demo releases, Temnarod started recording his first full format work.

The album “Usled Zmiorzlamu Soncu” (Following The Frozen Sun) was released 1st of September 2010 by Possession Productions. The tracks of this album were recorded between November 2007 and December 2008. It was released in limited edition of 500 copies. In the Fall of 2009 ZAKLON recorded its second album “Shept Chornaha Liscia” (Whisper of the Black Leafs). The album was relised as Digi-CD by Russian Gardarika Musikk in late 2012. In the beginning of 2013 next album “Symbali Njazbytnaga”(Symbols of Impossible) was released by Gardarika Musikk in Digi-CD format too. In March 2014 “Zruinavanaia Vielich – Demo” was re-released as limited CD by Russian Yar’ Productions.

The artistic credo of Temnorod is “Hymns of the doomed forests under the dying sun.”

The trademark sound of ZAKLON is a melancholic-depressive cold Black Metal, with powerful sound and raw underground aesthetics.

The compositions are melodic and atmospheric, and yet full of aggressive pagan raw energy, with lyrics in dead Belorussian language.
