Interstellar I, le deuxième album du groupe, sortira le 9 avril.

Explorant les thèmes de la dérive technologique, de la corruption généralisée et des luttes personnelles liées à l'identité, à l'amour et à la survie, le récit se déploie dans un vaste univers spatial imprégné de légendes. À travers l’utilisation d’images représentatives de l’édifice en ruine du christo-fascisme, nous aspirons à l’éradication de l’oppresseur sous toutes ses formes. Les porte-étendards du thrash de l'Ohio, VINDICATOR, se préparent pour la sortie de Whispers of Death, leur cinquième album, le plus destructeur. One-Man OSDM Band RIPPED TO SHREDS to Release Debut Album 'Mai-zang' March 27

San Jose (CA) - One-man OSDM band RIPPED TO SHREDS, featuring extreme mult-tasker Andrew Lee (ex-DISINCARNATION), will release debut album Mai-zang on Malaysia's Necrolatry Records (cassette) and Mexico's Craneo Negro Records (CD). Reamping/mixing/mastering was handled by Damian Herring (HORRENDOUS) at Subterranean Watchtower Studios. Album artwork was created by Skaðvaldur.

Mai-zang means 'burial' or 'tomb', is a reflection of the turmoil, strife, and chaos of late 19th to early 20th century China as she dealt with multiple internal uprisings and foreign invasions. From the religious purges of the Taiping Rebellion to the mass famine in the wake of the Yellow River flood, each track presents a harrowing vignette of death and horror.

The song "Jiangu," which was performed in Mandarin, informs the themes in the cover art and tone of the album. Taiwanese people are traditionally buried sans embalming to let the flesh naturally rot away. They are exhumed years later to remove and clean the bones, which are placed in a funerary urn, and that urn then reinterred. This practice is called jiangu or "picking up bones." Andrew's great-grandparents were buried in this manner, but in the last 20 years population growth and space concerns prevent full coffin burial so people are cremated instead. Jiangu in the modern context refers to transferring the bone fragments left from cremation into the funerary urn. Worship of those remains is culturally important; what if during the cremation process a mistake was made and the family was handed the wrong person's ashes and bones? "Bone Ritual" then depicts the deceased's impotence in bringing good luck to his descendants as they pay false obeisances to the remains of a stranger.

The cover art shows a traditional grave; for Han Chinese, sweeping the grave is an important annual ritual, so leaving a grave to rot as drawn is an act of supreme disrespect to one's forebears."

RIPPED TO SHREDS began as a collaboration between Andrew Lee on all instruments and BW of Draghkar on vocals in early 2016 to merge Bolt Thrower and Entombed in a crushing soundtrack to tales of China's turbulent history. Early sketches of Yellow River were written in this period, but the project was put on hold with the formation of Disincarnation. After recording and releasing a demo with them, Andrew grew dissatisfied with the direction of the band and resolved to fulfill his vision of violence alone...

The internationally acclaimed predecessor Refugeeum brought BLACK SPACE RIDERS renown with its mixture of thoughtful, sensitive themes and hard, atmospheric rock. Two years have passed since then, two years in which the world has not necessarily become a better place in the eyes of most people.

War, terror, displacement, destruction, rejection and nationalism dominate the headlines. Or, as a wise little green fellow once said: "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

"All you need is love", countered the BEATLES in 1967. The response of BLACK SPACE RIDERS in 2018 is Amoretum, a made-up word comprising "amor" and "arboretum" to symbolize a protective garden and a germ seed of love. And so the new song cycle of BLACK SPACE RIDERS is all about the conflict between fear-hate-rejection-darkness on the one hand, and love-empathy-care-light on the other.  For, how else should we overcome hate, if not with love?

Musically, this conflict is consistently put into practice by a band that beats its own path and is constantly developing. The electronic experiments of the Beyond Regugeeum EP of 2016 have been reduced sonically and cleverly integrated into the powerfully sounding songs. Between fat, dirty riffs and trippy delays, everything that sounds good is allowed; the album is interspersed with a flowing groove throughout and an ever-present atmosphere that embraces the listener. Heavy, sometimes proggy, often psychedelic, always engaging and almost catchy and danceable, Amoretum Vol. 1 takes us by the hand, shows us the dark side, and then wants to give us the hope back that we so often painfully miss.

The album flows from song to song as if from a single cast. The listener wonders after 45 minutes whether everything is really already over, and wants to go back to the beginning again immediately.

But of course everything is not over after 45 minutes in the world of BLACK SPACE RIDERS. The band also announces a second chapter for 2018 ... Amoretum Vol. 2 is waiting for us, while we are looking forward to Amoretum Vol 1.
