Le 15 mai 2018, Black Bow Records lancera l'édition vinyle de Ascending Into Shimmering Darkness des doomsters britanniques Coltsblood. COLTSBLOOD a acquis une réputation redoutable au cours des années ayant été salué en loin et large comme "dévastateur, d'un autre monde, sombre, horrible, épique et profondément immersif". Coltsblood a sorti deux albums à travers Candlelight / Spinefarm Records, «Into The Insathomable Abyss» (2014) et «Ascending Into Shimmering Darkness» (2017), tous deux produits par Chris Fielding (Winterfylleth, Primordial, Napalm Death, Conan) au Skyhammer Studio avec le mastering fait par Greg Chandler (Priory Recording Studios, Esoteric). Formé dans le monde conservateur du sud de l'Ohio, Brass Owl n'a jamais été un groupe typique. Avec un bon maître à la guitare, un batteur de session rennomé et un bassiste avec un style rétro distinctif, ce power trio est prêt à prendre le dessus. Leur son orienté jam n'est pas seulement un témoignage des accomplissements passés des groupes, mais reflète également à quel point ils ont fusionné en tant qu'unité. Le cerveau derrière ce projet, Brian Tarter est ravi de finalement avoir un groupe où il est à la fois parolier et chanteur. Cette musique lui donne une plate-forme pour non seulement montrer ses licks approuvés par Steve Vai (Tarter a joué avec Vai après avoir remporté un concours de shred dans les années 90), mais aussi amener son écriture à un nouveau niveau. Le groupe agit comme une unité serrée combinant toutes sortes d'idées musicales à travers un mélange unique de riffs et de solos excitants, en grande partie improvisés. Brass Owl aspire à être un nouveau genre de groupe.

Brass Owl est un groupe qui a non seulement payé sa cotisation, mais qui a près d'un siècle d'expérience entre les trois. Ils sont prêts maintenant à sortir une fois de plus et revendiquer le cœur d'une légion de fans. Avec un son qui plaira à tout le monde, des rockers modernes aux stoners, en passant par les rock maniaques des classiques et les têtes brulées de jazz, Brass Owl n'a pas peur de repousser les limites. Since the release of their debut album "Tales of the Wicked West" in August 2016,  MaidaVale has toured Europe extensively.The live sound of MaidaVale has always leaned towards the experimental scene of the ’60s and ’70s, but with this new album, the band have worked with producer Jari Haapalainen which has led them further down the kraut and experimental path.

The music on ”Madness Is Too Pure" is deeply rooted in the monotone union between the rhythm section of Johanna Hansson and Linn Johannesson and the hypnotizing vocals of Matilda Roth. Adding Sofia Ströms dazzling guitar playing gives depth to the musical landscape of MaidaVale. ’Madness Is Too Pure’ moves MaidaVale closer to bands such as NEU!, Amon Düül II, Public Image Ltd and Siouxsie and the Banshees.


The album was produced and mixed by Jari Haapalainen who has previously worked with artists such as Ed Harcourt, Camera Obscura, Johnossi, Sahara Hotnights, True Moon and The (International) Noise Conspiracy. The album was recorded during six days in November 2017 at The End Studio outside of Lund, Sweden, engineered by Tommy Tift (Vånna Inget, True Moon).

Triple Eye Industries will release Spinning the stunning new record by Chicago's HIGH PRIESTS on March 23rd 2018.

Coming together in the fall of 2013 with former and current members of The Brokedowns, Wide Angles and Post Child, the members of High Priests bonded over their mutual love of bad jokes, blunts and frequent viewings of the Karp documentary. With no immediate goals in mind, the band set out to simply play noisy and discordant music that was far removed from their current projects.

Their forthcoming LP Spinning was engineered at Kildare Studios by Joe Gac (of Meat Wave). The album boasts a bombastic production value, showcasing the songs with a spaciousness that perfectly fits their arrangements. Spinning accomplishes the rare feat of finding a balance between a lo-fi basement recording and something on the more professional end of the sonic spectrum, resulting in an album filled with equal parts grit and clarity.

[B.ABUSE] - Memories Of Better Days Are Gone

German post-crust experimental veterans [B.ABUSE] return with their fifth full-length release; 'Memories Of Better Days Are Gone'. Right from the opening track there is something unusual about this band, immediately blending rolling post-rock atmosphere with a cross between Neurosis' hoarse bellow and clean, Cure-like vocal inflections and punching, punk-touched drums. They seek to push the listener with tracks walking the mid-tempo tension line, building from the simplest foundations (in the case of the opener just two chords), and advancing in movements to a point of critical mass, sometimes a brief blastbeat, often a crescendo of noise.

This is a band that manage to summon sounds such as classic Godflesh, Voivod, The Jesus Lizard, Discharge etc and fuse it into dream-like chryssalis of noise. The refusal to disappear into self-congratulatory pretension is something that sets [B.ABUSE] aside from their contemporaries and certainly makes this album worth checking out. The band's ability to move between math type hardcore chord stabbing, tidal synth atmosphere and traditional metal riffing is consummate and profound.

Black Bow Records is pleased to present Totems, the stunning new collaboration by Mammoth Weed Wizard Bastard and Slomatics. The split was produced at Skyhammer Studio by Chris Fielding , mastered by James Plotkin and will be available in transparent red or transparent green. The album will be released in mid-March 2018, a finalized date will be announced shortly.

Slomatics commented "We are really excited to be releasing a record with MWWB. We are all huge fans of their Y Proffwyd Dwyll album, so to collaborate on a release together is something else. This record is the result of months of discussion and sharing ideas which all came together when we shared Skyhammer Studio. Sharing a release with MWWB made us want to up every part of our sound and hopefully we've achieved that with this record.

MWWB further commented "MWWB have been big fans of Slomatics for years.  We have kind of obdurate tastes when it comes to heavy music so we like bands that fly their own flag and in our opinion Slomatics do just that. After chatting to Dave (Majury) it was pretty clear that both bands had a lot in common and when somebody brought up the idea of a collaboration it was a no brainer. We spent a lot of time discussing the content of this record and didn’t want to do just another split record. Although Split records are great for undergrounds bands like us, we just wanted to make it ‘special’. Kind of an early 70s prog ethic to it. We all enjoyed the whole process and I’m not alone in thinking we’d like to do more collaborations in the future with more collaboration between the 2 bands. That’s if we can find the time."

Natur is a scream from the far north. Made 100 years after the first indigenous political organizing in Norway, this is a Sami call to arms against the on-going colonization and oppression. The album is the Norwegian hardcore unit's second and offers a blend of hardcore, grim metal and catchy punk, resulting in an album that could be called the polar bear mates of Pet Sounds.

The album was recorded in Oslo, and produced by Yngve Andersen (Blood Command, Hold Fast). Technical wizardry was provided by Ruben Willem (Haust) and Simon Jackman, who also mixed the record. Guest performances are given by Lauritz Lyster Skeidsvold (yacht-saxophone) and the Sami pop star Ella Marie Hætta Isaksen of the electropop group ISÁK, who does a traditional joik (ancient Sami singing tradition) duet with Ondt Blod singer Aslak on the record’s last track “Giron”. The album’s artwork is a woodprint by Peter-John De Villiers, who also did the artwork for the singles.

Despite having only released one album, Ondt Blod have a lot to show for. Not only have they been deemed the “pride of the North” in Norwegian media; their debut-album Finnmark was nominated as the “newcomer of the year” for the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammys in 2016, and they have been listed on Norwegian national radio with five songs. The band has toured Norway alongside Kvelertak, and played the Roskilde Festival in 2016.

With Natur, Ondt Blod have made an album that is both a razor sharp political confrontation and a hedonistic celebration. Prepare to be colonized!

Misanthropical House is the title of the third album from Norwegian Hadeland-hardcore act The Good The Bad and the Zugly. The album was recorded by the band themselves at Toproom studio and mixed and produced by Anders Nordengen at Nabolaget, Oslo. Ruben Willem (previously in Haust) has done the mastering.

The band commented about the album: “Misanthropical House is a very emotional album. It reflects the Norwegian way of life and the hodge-podge of values we share, most often taking the form of complaining and whining. GBZ want whining back in punk! You see, there’s no end to the bodily decay we’re facing as the band members are approaching middle age: Hemorrhoids, fungus, obesity, hair loss, moderate depressions and hangovers of course. What else can you expect?"

As if this wasn’t enough, Little Steven, who accidentally stumbled across the band playing at their local bar, Last Train, declared: “It’s the worst band I’ve seen in Norway! No doubt! Probably the worst band in the world!"

But GBZ smile nevertheless. A fake smile of course. But that’s how the conservatives won the election in Norway, so no doubt, this will be a success! There is a lot of money and a lot of friends in fake smiles.

As on the first two albums, the artwork is by Norwegian artist Flu Hartberg, famed for his satirical illustrations.

Misanthropical House will be released on February 16th 2018.
