Avec "Mysteries of Earth", Blutvial présente une production mélancolique et rew de black metal impure dans la tradition scandinave classique du début et du milieu des années 90, rappelant les gemmes norvégiennes de groupes tels que Thorns, Kvist, Strid, Gorgoroth, Obtained Enslavement et, bien sûr, Burzum. Quelqu'un qui est encore fasciné par les premières sorties de ces groupes trouveront une nouvelle gemme ici.
"Mysteries of Earth" a été enregistré par Ewchymlaen (Reign of Erebus et Acolyte’s Ruin), Aort et Andras (du célèbre groupe de black metal avant-gardiste ainsi que d'Indesinence), avec Tiúval (d'Israthoum) à la batterie. Plus d'une heure de durée, convoquée l'album est auto-produit par le groupe alors attendez-vous à un son raw et non poli venant directement de la source. Orné d'une performance et d'une production simples mais efficaces, il révèle de la manière la plus optimale et la plus appropriée l'accent mis sur les riffs incessants et l'agressivité qui vous attirera instantanément dans l'univers sombre de Blutvial.

Ancient Lights - nouvel album (et double) le 6 juillet 2018 via Ritual Productions

La cloche sonne enfin et nous sommes extrêmement heureux d'annoncer que Ritual Productions sortira le premier rite de Ancient Lights cet été, le 6 juillet prochain! Le label a annoncé la signature du groupe l'année dernière et après de nombreuses heures consacrées à un travail d'artisanat méticuleux, le résultat final est un début monolithique pour Ritual Productions avec suffisamment de matériel pour justifier la sortie d'un double LP!

Formées sur l'alchimie instinctive et perceptive entre les trois piliers de la bande, les fondations se construisent et s'élancent dans un voyage d'un autre monde - résultant en un rite qui est solennellement présomptueux mais magnifiquement éthéré. La quiétude mélodique rencontre les guitares brûlantes et les tempos scintillent et se manifestent par des incréments précis et des éclats de vélocité inédits. Un marqueur d' Ancient Lights est la voix monacale enfouie dans le mélange qui retentit profondément dans votre cerveau, amplifiant les teintes rituelles et apaisantes qui permettent une évasion imaginative. Des pistes comme 'Temple Ghosts', 'Asakai Dasa' et 'Miasmaculatum' s'enfoncent dans des profondeurs troubles et déformées qui dégringolent au milieu des ruines tandis que 'Orichalcum Eater' et 'Fallow Year' offrent un espace radieux et des sons psychédéliques rêveurs.

Cette image que Quantum Leap crée avec leur premier album No Reason n'est pas belle, mais l'album s'impose comme la bande-son de l'effondrement des systèmes écologiques. Il apporte l'obscurité du post-punk des années ‘80 et l'énergie du garage-rock. Les paroles peuvent être appréciées tant par des académiques que tout autre publique punk rock alternatif.

Buck Tow Truck is a one-man band from Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, founded by Andrew Dona. Dona's influences are "Van Halen," "Dokken" (more specifically George Lynch) and "Bathory." The name for the band was conceived by combining a typical 80's tough guy name "Buck" with what George Carlin considered to be a man's word. To him, man words have 2 syllables such as shotgun or tow-truck. While saying these words be sure to pump one's fist forward and back in a horizontal line as if cocking a shotgun, as George did.

The Greeks of Exarsis, however, are among the representatives of the genre who have kept the flag of Thrash Metal up even in times when it seemed far less popular in public perception. Since their 2010 demo, the guys are on the road and have released two highly-acclaimed albums with "The Brutal State" and "The Human Project" in 2013 and 2015. These have led to concerts and tours with bands such as Suicide Silence, Fuel By Fire, Anthrax, Judas Priest,- or as now on the occasion of the release of the new album with Onslaught and Artillery brought.

With "New War Order", Exarsis release an album which lets every Thrash Metal Maniac click his tongue. These Greeks do not stingy with neckbreaker riffs and dizzying solos, which should lead every fan of this genre to create some space in his record collection between Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Vio-Lence an Anthrax

Melbourne metal five-piece Trigger have set January 5th 2018 as the release date for Cryogenesis, to be released now globally through Hellfire Records Australia (The album was released on July 18th 2017 for the Australian market only). Recorded by Chris Themelco at Monolith Studios and mastered by Thomas ‘Plec’ Johanssen at Panic Room Studios, Cryogenesis is a sci-fi influenced concept album spanning 10 tracks at 53 minutes.

As stated by Trigger guitarist Luke Ashley;

“Cryogenesis is a science-fiction narrative that addresses the struggle of gods and man. These historical demigods are all too real and not of this world; constantly vying for cultural control and dominion over humanity. Upon the Forge of Hephaestus, Tethered to the Tide and Veins of Ambrosia are excerpts of alien forces exercising their will, whilst Dead Sun and Dysphoria focus on the human psyche. We have created a world akin to our own, referencing important points in human history with a grimmer mythological impact.

Sonically, our vision for the album was to bridge the gap between European and American influences, as well as the classic and modern aesthetics of metal. We wanted this to be a dynamic release that highlights the variety of the metal subcultures and throws them into a melting pot. It’s fast but spacious, heavy but contoured, all tied together with melodic strains. We’ve honed a unique identity for this release - we hope people have as much fun listening to Cryogenesis as we did writing it.”

«Those two tracks deal with time, and the damage it does to both human relationships and self esteem », says Oliver Verron. « I had this pure Doom Metal project in mind since the nineties, but couldn’t find any musicians back then so I finally decided to go for it alone, as a one-man band, first by releasing a demo in 2013».

A one-man band that was doomed to evolve into a real band, as drummer Rachid «Teepee» Trabelsi (Moonskin, Corrosive Elements), joined CONVICTION soon after the release of the single as well as a bass player and a guitar player whose names are still to be announced.
CONVICTION has now started to work on their first album that should be released at the end of the year.

Russia's post black metallers L'Homme Absurde have published a video for their latest single "Cleansing The Temple", which was released on Christmas day and will be available on the band's upcoming album.

L'Homme Absurd was initially founded as the one-man-band of A., drummer for russian doom metal bands such as Mare Infinitum, Who Dies In Siberian Slush and Comatose Vigil, being the mastermind of doom/downtempo band A Youn Man's Funeral as well. Now A. is joined by other musicians, which released together "Monsters", their debut full-length, in 2016.

In answer to the call rises Guillotine, groovy death metal crusaders hailing from Athens and Atlanta, Georgia. Harnessing the sonic extremes of death and black metal while executing with nuance and subtlety, Guillotine is a harbinger of drastic change, of revolution. Heads will roll.

Guillotine was first conceived in 2003 in rural southwest Georgia.  After more than a decade of hibernation, brothers Lance and Adam Miller resurrected Guillotine in 2015 with fresh ideas and direction. Drummer Evan Posey has since joined the lineup, adding his brutal metal pummeling to the Miller brothers’ oozing grooves.  In 2016, Guillotine began playing shows with an album’s worth of original songs, which were immortalized in June 2017 at Ledbelly Sound Studio with Matthew Washburn at the helm recording, mixing, and mastering. This album bears a sound intrinsic to the Miller brothers, combining traces of black metal, old school death metal, and NOLA sludge to create a massive wall of crushing doom.  With lyrical themes of time travel, ancient aliens, interdimensional vampire gods, and conspiracy theories galore, the album sets the scene of the conceptual universe in which the stories of Guillotine will be told.  Feast your ears upon what is only the first taste of Guillotine.
